That's me balancing lots of panda toys on my head in the gift shop at Beijing Zoo
This is of course my favourite Sylvanian family, and is what I created my website around! I initially bought these as characters for a doll's house I was making, but little did I know that these cute little faces would be the beginning of a wonderful hobby.
I've been fascinated with pandas since my trip to Beijing in 2008. My friends and I decided to go to the zoo, and whilst we were looking at all the different animals, it suddenly started to rain really heavily. I didn't have an umbrella, and the ones in the gift shop were hideous. After I'd given up hope of staying dry for the day, suddenly my eyes were attracted to a hat in the shape of a panda head. It was so white and fluffy - I had to have it! It's one of my most prized posessions, and because I wear it so often, everyone now calls me Panda!
In the UK this family is called the Bamboo pandas, originally released by Tomy in 1992, and later re-released by Flair in 2002. In the US these pandas are known as the Wilder family, and were first released under the Calico Critters license post-1999. The families are virtually identical apart from the babies.

Early 1990's: Chi-Chi Bamboo - baby in crawling position. Promotional figure. [I need more information on this little guy!]

2010: 25th Anniversary World Collection Series - sister (representing China) and sister Brambles hedgehog (representing Russia)
[(*) denotes figures that I currently own, however I'm missing the original Tomy baby boy]
There may be more figures that I may have missed, but of course as a panda enthusiast, I'm interested in collecting them all.
