I have always been really drawn to this family, however I haven't had much success in getting them at auction it seems!
They were first released in the UK in 1989 by Tomy with flat hands, and the babies were solid moulds in gowns. This version is identical to the US release, however they called their family the Hoppinsets. In the US a set of exclusive grandparents were also released, which I'd really like to own some day!
Tomy later re-released the Corntops in the UK with open hands, and these are difficult to get hold of. When Flair took over in 1999 they also re-released the Corntops, but with a new set of standing babies that could move.
I have:
Corntop Father - Tomy version - think he's in the wrong overalls
Corntop Mother - Tomy version, open hands
Corntop Brother - Tomy version - wrong shorts
Corntop Sister - Tomy version - wrong dress
Corntop Baby Boy - Flair version
Corntop Baby Girl - Flair version
I have a bit of work to do in order to complete this family. I'd really like to know what the Hoppinset family names are as well if they're different to the Corntop's.
