The rest of the Flair Mulberry family - grandfather, grandmother, and uncle

In the original Tomy release (1996), the brother had different coloured shorts - they were a red tartan print, like most other brother figures at the time. I have however seen Flair versions with the red shorts too, so perhaps the version I have is a 2nd edition? I also think that the stripes on their flocking are a darker colour in the re-release than the originals were.

I have noticed that the Japanese Mulberry raccoons have thinner stripes down their face as well. They look like crescent moons, whilst the UK ones look like... Well, paint smudges!

In the UK standing babies were released, whilst in the US a standard set of sit/crawl twins were released there instead. Currently exclusive to the UK are the grandparents, which came with the Motorycyle and Sidecar set, and the uncle, which came with the Toymakers set - both released in 2010.

I have to say that I love this families tails! I can't stop stroking them because they're so soft. I definately prefer the big bushy tails than the wirey ones.

Interesting side note: On the underneath of the Flair babies boxes, they are both called 'Pumpkin Mulberry', whilst on a poster and other official material I have, the babies are definately called Cookie and Pumpkin. It's probably just a misprint. However on the Sylvanian Families website (www.sylvanianfamilies.com) on the Toymaker's product page, they refer to the babies as his nieces Candy and Pumpkin. It seems no one can get their names right, let alone their gender, poor things!

Special Edition Figures

Here are some special figures including members of the Mulberry family that I have found so far!

I don't know the official name of this set, but it was released along with various other figures in special outfits at the time of the Sylvanian Families 15th Anniversary.

I don't know when this particular figure was released yet. It came complete with a little pink rocking horse.

Mulberry Biographies

Father Elma Mulberry is a very jovial chap, who just loves telling funny stories and jokes. He is happiest when at a 'Boot Sale' because he can sell anything to anybody.

Mother Mae Mulberry's motto [is] 'waste not want not'. And she's true to her word because she hates to throw anything away 'Just in case it might be useful'. That is why all the cupboards in their house are groaning with strange 'useful' objects she has collected over the years. Unbeknown to Mae, Elma goes through the cupboards to find things to sell at his 'Boot Sales'.

Sister Candy Mulberry is a gentle, softly spoken little girl who loves writing. Her greatest success to date is a poem she had published in the local paper about 'Happy Days in the Park with her many friends'.

Brother Ike Mulberry has 'wanderlust'. The problem is that he has absolutely no sense of direction! So whenever he wanders off he inevitably gets lost - which worries his poor mother and father terribly. But even though he doesn't know where he is going, he always manages to end up at the park, playing with all his friends.
