Both figure sets I have come from the UK range of Sylvanian Families.

Dr Murdoch: This is the original Tomy version, released in 1992. He is a very large bear, I wouldn't like him as my doctor that's for sure! He was then later re-released by Flair, but I'm unsure when. This bear was also released in the US in the playset: Dr Murdoch and Patients set, and came with a baby Billabong Koala, and a baby Dandelion rabbit. However the US Dr Murdoch seems to be quite dark in colour comparatively.

The original set included: stethascope, glasses, briefcase, medical box, bottle of cough medicine, bottle of medicine, pair of tweezers, medical register, medical handbook, and 3 patient cards. He was designed to accompany the Cottage Hospital.

Dr Murdoch Jr: He is only available in the UK and Europe, and came with the Doctor and Bike set, released in 2008. He is in the new father figure bear mould, and isn't scary like his father is.

The set included: a bike, briefcase, stethascope, and blood pressure monitor. He was designed to accompany the new General Hospital.

Murdoch Bear Biographies

Doctor Murdoch
When he was at school all the other children used to call him 'Doc' for short and is was no surprise that when he grew up he actually became the Sylvanian Doctor! He is very kind to everyone and always shows extra special patience to his patients! His favourite medicine is an apple - because he says, "an apple a day keeps the illness at bay, but you'll never keep old 'Doc' away!"
